Fraction Falls is a set of free fraction math games for kids from age 7. Younger players name the coloured part of a shape split into equal pieces; older players find equivalent fractions such as 2/3 = ?/9.
Every fraction is drawn, so children connect the numbers to the picture before they work with the numbers alone.
Each stage unlocks the next. Every question has four answer choices, a hint on request and a worked explanation, and parents can follow progress from the progress page.
More worlds: Addition games, Subtraction games, Multiplication math games and times tables. See all addition and subtraction games and practice worlds, or find your child’s grade or Year page.
In the US, 1st and 2nd grade split shapes into halves, thirds and fourths; 3rd grade treats fractions as numbers and starts simple equivalent fractions; 4th and 5th grade compare, add and subtract fractions. In England, Year 2 finds halves, quarters and thirds; Year 3 meets unit and non-unit fractions and tenths; Year 4 works on equivalent fractions and hundredths; Years 5 and 6 compare, add and multiply fractions.
At age 7 (US 2nd grade, England Year 3) it uses halves, thirds and quarters. At age 8 it adds fifths, sixths and eighths, and from age 9 (US 4th grade, England Year 5) it moves on to equivalent fractions.
No. The first stage only asks how many equal parts are coloured, and the hint explains what the bottom number counts.
Yes. The Moonwell chapter on the home page is a story adventure built around equivalent fractions, with spells instead of worksheets.
